I know Mortal Kombat X did it on Steam, though apparently with mixed results. "Wouldn't it be nice if I could at least load up and play the intro sequence while it downloaded?" I thought to myself. I mean I'm currently (slowly) downloading FFX HD remaster to play on my laptop while I'm here and it's taking ages.
Being at my parents' house for Christmas, with their awful UK countryside internet and only having access to my laptop got me thinking - why is this feature not a big thing on Steam yet? I don't use my Xbox One nearly as much so am not sure how much the feature is used there.īeing able to start downloading a game like Battlefield, and then boot up the single player campaign while the Multiplayer modes are still installing feels like a really nice feature, especially for people with slow internet connections in that it gives them at least something to do during that painful download time.
#Steam download finished but still downloading Ps4
It was talked about quite alot at the onset of this generation and, on PS4 at least, it feels like most games allow this feature, albeit to varying degrees. One of the things I like most about both the PS4 and the Xbox One is their ability to start playing games while they are still downloading. I searched and couldn't find much about this on here and thought it might be worth a discussion.
